Associate Degree Requirements
Completion of sixty (60) undergraduate level credits (semester credit system) is required for an Associate Degree in Applied Science from APT College. The disbursement of credits between general education, core, and elective requirements is dependent upon the specific program of study. (Please refer to each of the individual degree programs.)
You must have a cumulative 2.00 GPA (C average) at the conclusion of all required coursework. You must complete all core, elective, and general education courses with a grade of “C-” or better in order to apply the credit towards degree completion. 

General Education
You are required to complete a minimum of eighteen (18) credits (semester credit system) of general education as required by both state and federal regulations. You must successfully complete at least three (3) credits (semester credit system) within each subject area as listed below:

  • English Composition
  • Human Communication (Speech, Foreign Language)
  • Natural Sciences (Life or Physical)
  • Humanities (Art, Literature, History, Philosophy)
  • Social, Behavioral, and Political Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • The APT College General Education courses satisfy the minimum general education requirements needed to complete an associate degree program. APT College will also accept General Education credits from colleges or universities accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education..

    Transfer Credits 
    You may be able to apply work experience, transfer credits, and ELC (Experiential Learning Credits) toward degree requirements.  APT College Credit Evaluation Committee will evaluate all transfer credit and work experience.

    Transcripts of previously completed academic work are evaluated and credit may be transferred to meet existing coursework requirements.  The following guidelines are utilized when accepting transfer credit for an associate degree program:

  • The college will accept transfer credits from applicable courses completed at colleges or universities accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • A combined maximum of forty-six (46) transfer credits (semester credit system) may be applied to an APT associate’s degree, divided as follows:
    1. A maximum of twenty-four (24) transfer credits may be applied toward core and elective requirements (semester credit system). 50% of these credits (12 credits) may be earned as Experiential Learning Credits
      A maximum of twenty-two (22) transfer credits may be applied towards general education requirements.
  • To be eligible for undergraduate academic credit, transfer grades must be equivalent to a letter grade of C (2.0 GPA) or higher.
  • When coursework is equivalent, transfer credit from a quarter-based institution is evaluated and converted to semester credits on a 1.5 to 1 ratio.
  • The College will not accept transfer credit where the course is described as remedial or below the 100 course level number

    Experiential Learning Credit
    Experiential Learning allows you to receive credit for knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience that you may have accumulated while working in the industry.  APT College will award a maximum of one College credit (semester system) for every three (3) years of directly-related work experience or thirty (30) contact hours of documented training relating directly to a regularly offered APT College core or elective course up to a maximum of four (3) credits (semester system). You are required to submit supporting documentation consisting of detailed essays, letters of recommendations, industry certifications, etc.

    Notice Concerning Transferability of Credits and Degrees Earned at APT College

    The transferability of credits you earn at APT Collegeis at the complete discretion of an institution to which you may seek to transfer. Acceptance of certificates and/or degrees you earn is also at the complete discretion of the institution to which you may seek to transfer. If the credits, certificates and/or degrees that you earn at APT College are not accepted at the institutions to which you seek to transfer, you may be required to repeat some or all of their coursework at that institution. For this reason, you should make certain that your attendance at APT College would meet your educational goals. This may include contacting institutions to which you may seek to transfer after attending APT College to determine if the earned APT College credits, certificates and/or degrees will transfer.
    APT College does not have any articulation and/or transfer agreements with any college or university at this time.
